WAYNE COUNTY, MICHIGAN: lair Shores Man Charged in Downtown Coney Island Non-Fatal Stabbing

Wayne County, Michigan issued the following announcement on Sept. 10

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged David Michael Golze, 21 (DOB: 11/12/1997) of St. Clair Shores, Michigan in connection with the non-fatal stabbing of a 31-year-old security guard in front of a coney island restaurant.

On September 7, 2019 at approximately 1:00 a.m., the victim was a 31-year-old Royal Oak man working in the capacity as a security guard in the 100 block of West Lafayette in downtown Detroit. An argument between the group and the guards escalated into a fight in front of the restaurant. It is alleged that Golze stabbed the victim. When the victim discovered he was bleeding, he flagged down Detroit police officers who transported him to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Golze has been charged with Assault with Intent to Murder, Assault with Intent to Do Great Bodily Harm, two counts of Felonious Assault, and Assault and Battery.*

Golze was arraigned on September 9, 2019 before 36th District Court Magistrate Dawn White. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for September 16, 2019 at 8:30 a.m.; the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for September 23, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. Both hearings are before Judge Lynise Bryant in 36th District Court. The defendant received a $150,000 cash/surety bond. A photograph of the defendant is attached.

*The charges are allegations and defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
