State Rep. Mike Mueller (R-Linden) is inviting fifth-graders in Genesee and Oakland counties to help promote awareness of missing children through the 2020 National Missing Children's Day Poster Contest.

“There are over 800 missing children in Michigan,” Mueller said in a press release. “I encourage students in our community to participate and promote awareness of this issue and take preventative steps to avoid abductions.”

Students should submit an 8.5-by-14 inch poster with a theme Bringing Our Missing Children Home. Deadline for entries is Friday, Jan. 31 and may be emailed to Jolene Hardesty at hardestyj2@michigan.gov. For more information, email mikemueller@house.mi.gov or call 517-373-1780.

The contest is sponsored by the Michigan State Police and the U.S. Department of Justice's Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention.
