Wayne County, Michigan issued the following announcement on June 9
Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Quinn Keith Smith, 43, (DOB: 04/16/1977), of Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan, in connection with the embezzlement of funds from Monteith School Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) in Grosse Pointe Woods.
Defendant Smith was the treasurer of the PTO between July 2017 and January 2020. An audit of the organization's finances revealed the occurrence of unauthorized activity on the account. On February 12, 2020, a report was filed with Grosse Pointe Woods police. It is alleged that the defendant accessed the PTO account without authorization and embezzled over $91,000.00 in funds over two and a half years.
Smith has been charged with Embezzlement of $50,000 and less than $100,000.* He was arraigned this morning before Judge Theodore A. Metry in Grosse Pointe Woods Municipal Court. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for June 24, 2020 at 10:00 a.m.; the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for July 15, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. in Grosse Pointe Woods Municipal Court. The defendant received a $25,000/10% bond.
