Southern Wayne County Regional Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on June 10.
Registration is underway for the 11th annual Happy Soles 5K Run and Walk for Fish & Loaves. Since the Happy Soles Race will be virtual this year, we will be extending our signup until 6/30/2020. Please let your family and friends know about this opportunity to support our neighbors. The race can be run or walked anywhere that you like between May 4th and June 30th of 2020. You can run, jog, or walk on the road, on the trail, on the treadmill, at the gym, or on the track (or even at another race). You get to run your own race, at your own pace, and time it yourself.
The 5K is a key supporting event for the Fish & Loaves Community Food Pantry, a faith-based, non-profit, volunteer-operated pantry based in Taylor. The pantry is committed to "ensuring no one goes hungry" or without adequate nutrition in Taylor and the surrounding communities: Allen Park, Brownstown, Dearborn Heights, Romulus, Southgate, Woodhaven, and beyond with our community partnerships. Fish & Loaves has been providing ongoing and emergency food support throughout the pandemic and needs your support now more than ever.
$30 registration from May 1 - June 30
$5 Discount for Active Military & First Responders
First 300 participants will receive a Custom Medal
All participants receive a TEC t-shirt
After your run (or walk) please post a picture with your time and include an encouraging message on the Fish & Loaves Facebook page. Please tag using #HAPPYSOLES5K
