City of Taylor issued the following announcement on Nov.
Since October 1, the City of Taylor has seen a spike of 666 new cases of COVID-19, including 15 deaths. This and more in the Wayne County Report for November 20, 2020.
Taylor COVID cases have mirrored the dangerously high spike seen in cases and hospitalizations across the country. In the countywide health data released for November 19, Taylor reported 32 new cases, to increase this year’s total to 1,717. No new deaths were reported (that number remains at 93 overall).
The City’s numbers parallel increases across the out county region that are difficult to ignore: On November 19 alone, Dearborn had 82 new cases; Canton 64; Livonia 61, Westland 53; and Dearborn Heights 41. Overall, the out county area registered 670 new cases.
With Thanksgiving about a week away and coronavirus cases exploding nationwide, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommended against traveling or gathering for the holiday, urging Americans to consider celebrating in their own households instead.
Officials spoke of the risks in stark terms, warning that as friends and relatives get together over the holidays, they could inadvertently bring the coronavirus with them. Tragedy could follow, they said.
EXTRA CAUTION needs to be taken. Plan gatherings including no one but those who live in your homes – no extended family and friends. Always wear masks when and where they are recommended. Social distance. Sanitize your hands on a regular basis.
