The COVID-19 pandemic continues to leave students in the state's largest school districts, which includes parts of the Downriver area, without in-person learning.
According to reporting by Michigan Capitol Confidential, the move to remote learning has impacted more than 204,000 in Michigan's largest public school districts in all grades.
This month, 398 of the state's school districts -- or nearly half -- were doing online learning only, according to the Education Policy Innovation Collaborative. Students in only 11 districts -- accounting for 1% of Michigan public school districts -- were providing in-person learning only, with 51 percent of the state's other school districts offering both online and in-person classes, according Michigan Capitol Confidential.
Among the largest school districts in the state are: Detroit Public Schools Community District, Utica Community Schools, Dearborn City School District, Ann Arbor Public Schools, Plymouth-Canton Community Schools, Chippewa Valley Schools, Rochester Community School District, Grand Rapids Public Schools, Livonia Public Schools School District, Warren Consolidated Schools and Walled Lake Consolidated Schools.
