Susannenilssonflickr

City of Riverview issued the following announcement on July 10.

WE'RE OPEN!

The time has finally arrived -- Come 'on in to see the John D. Dingell Jr. Visitor Center at the Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge. You're invited to explore the fun displays about local nature and how everyone can "Be a Conservation Hero". On your way to Humbug Marsh trails or the fishing pier, stop in to say hello, learn a little about the refuge, and check-out nature-oriented merchandise at the "Canvasback Corner Nature Store".  You might just find a bird id book or that refuge t-shirt and bee-house you've been looking for.

The details:

Where: 5437 W. Jefferson Ave, Trenton, MI 48183.

When: Starting today, July 8th, the building will be open from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Thursday through Sunday.

What:  Volunteer-led Information station, self-guided inside visits, and Nature Store are now open.  Educational programming is currently outside only (see website Calendar of events).

Thank you so much to everyone for your support and patience and partnership during our construction period and covid-safety closure. A special thank you to Congresswoman Debbie Dingell and the late Congressman John Dingell for decades of vision, encouragement, and support.

In caution and care for everyone, Covid safety measures are in place.  Unvaccinacted visitors wear masks. Occupancy inside will be limited for covid safety.

Hope to see you soon at the Refuge!
