City of Taylor issued the following announcement on Aug 16.
The Wayne County Board of Canvassers has certified the official results of the City of Taylor’s Primary Election held on August 3, 2021. Two candidates qualified to be listed in the runoff for mayor, and 14 others will appear on the ballot to run for the seven-member City Council. These are all four-year terms.
City Clerk Cindy Bower and Treasurer Michelle Tocco were unchallenged in the primary.
State Representative Alex Garza finished first in the primary for mayor with 2,793. City Council Chairman Tim Woolley was second with 1,738 votes. Garza and Woolley will face off for the post in November.
Jeff Jones finished third with 1,713, and write-in candidate and current Mayor Rick Sollars (1,578) followed in fourth. Seven voters cast ballots for another write-in candidate, Christie Clancy.
The race for City Council saw changes between the unofficial tallies (which included no write-in totals) and the county’s certified final numbers. The 14 candidates qualifying for the General Election in November are (in order of primary finish):

- Angie Winton, 3,411
- Butch Ramik, 2,940
- Jill Brandana, 2,718
- Lindsey Rose, 2,556
- Amy Atwood, 2,475
- Justin Mordarski, 2,307
- Asha Tyson, 2,256
- Tina Daniels, 2,246
- Ira Slaven, 2,215
- Nick Dmitruchina, 1,689
- Chrissy Masters Carmona, 1,623
- Charley Johnson, 1,577
- Chris Verdun, 1,526
In total, 7,965 ballots were cast in the primary.
As of this writing, no one has requested a recount.
The General Election will be held on Tuesday, November 2.
