City of River Rouge issued the following announcement on Sept 15.
Information from Mayor Bowdler to the Citizens of River Rouge : The City of River Rouge normally has 1 to 2 cases the Covid-19 virus a day since March of 2020 for a total case of 587 cases. As of Friday, September 9, 2021 the City of River Rouge cases jumped to 17 active cases in one day.
This would have been the first day of Rouge Days. We knew a couple weeks before that the cases were spiking but not this bad. Look at the numbers that's why we had to cancel this year. Mayor Bowdler would like to thank the volunteers that worked hard over the past year to always have a fun and festive Rouge Days. We hope to have a bigger and better Rouge Days in 2022. The city will be 100 years old in 2022 and we will all have a big celebration! God Bless everyone of you and stay safe
