Grosse Ile Township Schools issued the following announcement on Sept 24.
Please join us in congratulating our Meridian Principal – Nicole Garza – in her nomination by the American Heart Association for Principal of the Year! Below is what she had to say:
“I was nominated for the Principal of the Year Award by the American Heart Association and yesterday at their Kids Heart Challenge & American Heart Challenge National Awards Ceremony I was chosen as the Principal of the Year out of thousands of principals nationally. They recognized the work that I have done with the Kids Heart Challenge. At Parke Lane we raised enough to be 4th in the state and at Meridian, we doubled what Meridian had raised the year before. I am an AHA volunteer, I have spoken at events regarding the work we do at schools and how heart disease has affected my family personally. I am very humbled and grateful for this award, our staff and students, and this amazing community support.”
