Get ready for 2021 Taylor Winterfest Saturday, November 27

City of Taylor issued the following announcement on Nov 24.

The 2021 Taylor Winterfest will be held on Saturday, November 27. Included will be a 5K run, parade, tree-lighting ceremonies and fireworks display. The run will begin at 4 p.m. at the Heritage Park Petting Farm. The parade will step off from the Taylor Recreation Center at 5 p.m.

Residents should note the following:

Taylor Community Library will close at 1 p.m. for the day’s events.
Pardee Road will be closed just before the run begins until after the parade enters Heritage Park (approximately 3-7 p.m.).
The Pardee-Goddard Road intersection will close around 4:30 p.m. to allow the parade to start and make the turn toward Heritage Park.
Goddard will reopen once the parade lineup makes its way down Pardee Road.
Neighborhood streets connecting to Pardee and some portions of Goddard will be closed during the event.
Vehicular traffic should avoid the area and use alternate routes.
Parade staging inside the Taylor Recreation Center parking lot will start at 3:30 p.m.

Best areas to view the parade are right in front of the Sheridan Center Open Air Pavilion, and anywhere from Goddard Road to Heritage Park. Anyone parking at Heritage Park should enter through the Northline Road entrance at Racho, and proceed to any of the lots. All the parking lots inside Heritage Park will be open, with the exception of the Pardee lot. Both the lot and the entrance will be closed during the run and the parade.

Once the parade reaches the Sheridan Center, there will be food and refreshments available (at cost) along with music, including the West Middle School Choir and carolers. There will be free cookie decorating for children; free kid’s crafts; and take-your-own photos will be available with the honored guests, Santa and Mrs. Claus.

Eventually, Mayor Tim Woolley will welcome Santa and Mrs. Claus to the stage, and they will light the City of Taylor’s official Christmas tree.

Shortly after the tree lighting, a fireworks display will take place over Heritage Park.

Due to issues surrounding the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Santa’s Magic Forest will not be open this season. The magic forest, a fundraiser for the Downriver Fish & Loaves Food Pantry, usually kicks off with the annual Winterfest and is open through the holiday season. Officials for Santa’s Magic Forest hope that it will return next year.

However, this year’s Winterfest is expanding to include a Holiday Stroll December 16, 17 and 18 in Heritage Park. The stroll will include plenty of holiday characters, including crowd favorites Mr. Grinch, Elsa and Olaf, photo opportunities with Santa and Mrs. Claus, ice carving and more. Each evening will feature the same characters. It will be held from 5-9 p.m. each day, and Thursday, December 16 will be “dog friendly” night.

Pricing for the Holiday Stroll will include the Taylor Resident Family Pack ($25 for four); resident individual tickets ($10 adult, $5 children); and non-resident individual tickets ($12 adult, $6 children). Food and drinks will be available for purchase.

The 2021 Taylor Winterfest is presented by the City of Taylor. Dr. Mike Lanzetta sponsors the Taylor Goodfellows 5K run. Event sponsor for the Winterfest is Priority Waste; parade sponsor is Taylor Chevrolet; tree-lighting sponsor is MJC Homes and activities sponsor is Al’s Asphalt.
