Romulus Community Schools issued the following announcement on Jan 13.
Greetings Romulus Families!
Thank you for your interest in Romulus Community Schools’ virtual learning program. We are both honored and excited that you are considering joining our online learning journey. At Romulus Virtual Learning Center (RVLC), we are committed to working collaboratively with our students and families in order to provide everyone involved with an engaging and productive learning experience. Our program offers two opinions:
Virtual Learning for Kindergarten through 8th Grade: In our K-8 program, Romulus teachers provide virtual students with synchronous instruction, five days per week, with curriculum and scheduling that is aligned with the curriculum and bell schedules of our elementary and middle schools. Families wishing to enroll must complete the Online Learning Application on our district website.
Virtual Learning for High School Students: Students in grades nine through twelve who choose online learning will enroll in the Romulus Virtual Learning Center (RVLC) which uses the Edgenuity learning platform. These students will also receive support from highly qualified, certified Romulus School teachers who will serve as mentors, frequently checking in with the students and families in order to monitor progress. As the Edgenuity platform is asynchronous and self-paced, families who choose this option will need to provide the student with consistent support, and the student will need to practice a high degree of responsibility and independence in order to ensure success. For more information on Edgenuity, please click here: https://www.edgenuity.com/
Unfortunately, at this time there is no space available for High School students in the virtual program.
All Romulus virtual students (K-12) are welcome to participate in all school activities (unless otherwise determined by administration). Please note that families that select the virtual option must commit for the remainder of the 2021-22 school year.
RCS Special Services will review all online learning applications for students with IEPs in order to ensure that FAPE (free and appropriate public education) can be provided.
Again, all families interested in our VIRTUAL option MUST complete the online learning application. The deadline for submitting an application is Wednesday, January 19, 2022 by 3:00 PM. Click on the link to apply: https://forms.gle/Qoo3T7kvuWTqhAb86
Submitting an application does not guarantee acceptance. Acceptance is based on availability.
We look forward to working with you!
