City of Riverview issued the following announcement on Feb 3.
On Monday, January 31st, It was my honor to sign a new contract on behalf of the Riverview City Council with Riverview Energy Systems.
This new agreement is for a project to convert the landfill gas into pipeline quality natural gas.
The royalties earned will be used to fund the city's unfunded OPEB (Other Post Employment Benefits) without increasing our resident's property taxes.
When the plant goes online in roughly three years Riverview will receive annual payments of at least $400,000.00.
This project has been a multi-year effort by our Riverview Team.
That team was made up of current and former Landfill Committee members Dean Workman, Elmer Trombley, James Trombley, Tom Coffey, and myself. Those who did all the leg work to make this happen were City Manager Doug Drysdale, Assistant City Manager Jeff Dobeck, Finance Director Rob McMahon, Landfill Engineer Jennifer Bowyer, and City Attorney Randy Pentiuck and asssistant Alyssa Gunsorek.
