Allen Park Public Schools issued the following announcement on Mar 11.
Every March, National Social Work Month recognizes the dedication and empathy social workers across the country deliver while providing services to children and adults in need. Their services provide support to people of all backgrounds in crisis situations or when life creates roadblocks and uncertainty.
National School Social Work Week (March 6-12) is an opportunity for schools, communities and partners to acknowledge and recognize the impactful work school social workers do to support students, families and their communities.
The theme this year is “Time to Shine” and we know that AP School Social Workers shine brightly for our students, families, staff and school community.
Shining hope. Shining understanding. Shining respect.
Please join us in recognizing Sandy Bennett, Dana Brown, Michelle Calvillo, Michelle Kean, Kendra Payette-Linn, Victoria Rose and Erica Saville for providing services to students who face serious challenges to school success, including poverty, disability, discrimination, abuse, addiction, bullying, loss of a loved one, and other barriers to learning.
Thank you for shining a light on the need for mental health services, offering hope for students and families who face various challenges, and lighting the way for marginalized youth. We look forward to recognizing your efforts at the March 14th Board of Education meeting
