Congratulations Det/Lt Jon Wieneke!! He is known to many as “Wink.” He retired today after 27 years of service. Detective Lt. Wieneke started his career with the city of Flat Rock on May 5, 1995. He rose to the ranks of patrolman, detective, detective sergeant, and finished his career as Detective Lt.. Detective Lt. Wieneke was a member of the Flat Rock motor unit for several years, he was a firearms instructor and later the firearms training coordinator for the department, teaching many officers to be proficient with their pistols, shotguns, and patrol rifles. Det/Lt Wieneke earn several departmental citations throughout his career including officer of the year for 2010. Lt. Wieneke‘s biggest accomplishment was being a member of the downriver mutual aid SWAT team for 20 years of his career. He rose through the ranks of operator to team leader. His last assignment on the team was a member of the command staff. In 2021 Detective Lt. Wieneke was a graduate of the Michigan State University School of Staff and Command. Det/Lt Wieneke enjoyed coaching his daughters Jordan and Maddie in softball. He will continue to sit alongside Jordan and his wife Wendy in watching Maddie finish out her senior year in girls high school softball next year.
Detective Lt. Wieneke we want to thank you for the last 27 years of your friendship, leadership, professionalism, and commitment not only to the members of the Flat Rock Police Department but to the citizens of the Flat Rock Community.
