Classic car enthusiasts and spectators from throughout Southeast Michigan will converge on Telegraph Road for the annual cruise on Saturday, July 23. The cruise is held on the fourth Saturday in July each year, but many drivers cruise the course unofficially on Friday, too.
“We want everyone to have fun and enjoy the cruise,” Mayor Tim Woolley said. “But safety on the roads, parking lots and in neighborhoods should be everybody's top priority.”
Official event hours are from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Taylor Police ask cruise-goers to note the following:
- Mini-bikes, golf carts or four-wheelers are not allowed either on the roadway or sidewalks along Telegraph Road
- Police will have a “zero tolerance” policy with items thrown into roadway, especially bleach
- No “burn outs” by vehicles are allowed and will be ticketed
- Key side streets are closed to eliminate any problems in surrounding neighborhoods
- Telegraph Road will close down at approximately 9 p.m. to end the event
- Police use outside agencies for assistance during the cruise. A plain clothes party detail often controls any problems in the crowd or in business parking lots along the route.
If you attend this year’s cruise, the City of Taylor asks that you dispose of trash accordingly. Trash containers will be located on public and private property along the cruise route, and it only takes a few seconds to walk over and properly dispose of trash. For those attending a groups, bring plastic trash bags that can be used, sealed and taken home to be thrown in your regular trash for the next curbside pickup.
Recognize that every little bit helps.
