A series of bipartisan bills will help the state improve several issues that state leaders wanted to address.
The bills will improve mental health standards, provide for more polling locations, protect public safety and provide an opportunity for more clean energy production, according to a news release issued by the state government.
“These bipartisan bills deliver on a range of kitchen-table issues and are proof of what’s possible when we work across the aisle to put Michiganders first,” Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D-MI) said in the release. “Together, we are increasing the number of corrections officers, immediately establishing stronger standards for mental health transport for involuntary hospitalizations, increasing the number of polling places available to voters, and conducting a study to determine the feasibility of nuclear energy in Michigan. Let’s keep getting it done and move Michigan forward.”
Since Whitmer has become governor, she has signed 975 bipartisan bills.
"My legislation ensures our state continues to research and review nuclear energy, which has provided millions of homes and businesses affordable, clean energy for many years here in Michigan. A huge thanks to the Governor for understanding the importance of this bipartisan legislation," said Rep. Graham Filler (R-Clinton County).
Rep. Richard Steenland (D-Roseville) sponsored HB 6106, which allows area breweries to manufacture and sell labeled merchandise.
“This bipartisan package of bills will keep the industry in Michigan up to date, competitive and will allow for continued growth in the market,” said Steenland. "My bill, House Bill 6106 would protect existing private labels and ensure that the rights of all licensed retailers are protected so that the industry can continue to thrive.”
