State Representative Jamie Thompson is organizing two community charity drives in Brownstown and Monroe to support local families in need during the holiday season. The first event, the Fish & Loaves Food Drive, will take place on Monday, December 4, from 5-6:30 p.m. at the Brownstown Police Department's parking lot. The second event, called Gifts of Hope, is a Christmas supply drive for women in need and will be held on Wednesday, December 6, from 5-6:30 p.m. at Selah's Center of Hope in Monroe.

Rep. Thompson emphasized the importance of these drives in providing assistance to community members facing financial challenges. He stated, "When I sought to represent our area, I made it clear that I would be a voice for people and their families and support our communities in any way I could." He further added, "The reality is there are many people in our area – including seniors and single mothers – who are struggling to make ends meet, and we can come together as a community and uplift them in times of need."

The Fish & Loaves Food Drive aims to collect essential food items that will be distributed to Downriver families in need. Rep. Thompson encouraged the community to participate in this drive and make a difference in the lives of those who are less fortunate.

The Gifts of Hope event focuses on gathering various supplies such as paper towels, dish soap, linens, children's clothing, diapers, and other everyday items. These donations will be used to support women in need during the holiday season. Rep. Thompson expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to partner with local leaders in helping people in need. He quoted Coretta Scott King, saying, "The greatness of a community is most accurately measured by the compassionate actions of its members."

Rep. Thompson welcomes any inquiries or questions regarding the events and can be reached by phone at (517) 373-1772 or via email at [email protected]
