Romulus Community Schools welcomed 2,281 students in 2022-23 school year

There were 2,281 students enrolled in Romulus Community Schools in the 2022-23 school year, 5.2% less than the previous year, according to the Michigan Department of Education.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 50.2% of them were girls, and 49.8% were boys.

Data also shows that most of the students were African American, representing 68.7% of the Romulus Community Schools total enrollment.

Romulus Community Schools covers nine schools within Wayne County with its main office in Romulus. Among them, Romulus Senior High School recorded the highest enrollment of 643 students in the 2022-23 school year.

Overall student enrollment in Michigan remains below pre-pandemic levels, white students experiencing the largest decline at 6.5%.

Academic performance has also suffered, with the state's average NAEP score dropping by 6.5 points and ethnic achievement gaps widening. Black and Hispanic students' average math proficiency dropped by 7% in 2022, to 13.5% and 28.2%, respectively.
