State Representative Jamie Thompson recently addressed nursing graduates at a ceremony held at Dorsey College. The event took place on August 21, and Thompson, who is also a Licensed Practical Nurse, delivered her speech during the college's nurses pinning ceremony for the year 2024.

Thompson holds positions on both the House Health Policy Committee and the House Health Policy Subcommittee on Behavioral Health. In her remarks, she expressed admiration for the new graduates. "It was a tremendous honor to speak before the graduates and their families," said Thompson from Brownstown. She highlighted the significance of witnessing "our next generation of nurses taking their walk with their lighted lamp, taking their Florence Nightingale Oath and Pledge, and receiving their pin." She emphasized that these graduates are essential to "the health and well-being of our families and communities in the years ahead."

Dorsey College's Woodhaven campus hosts one of its Practical Nurse programs. This area falls within Thompson's representation as part of Michigan's 28th House District.
