Wayne County, Michigan issued the following announcement on May 27
Grosse Ile Bridge Update: Our contractor has completed the installation of needle beams, which will be used as supports for the Safespan work platforms. These platforms are critical for performing the bridge repairs; they allow contractors to access the over water areas of work. The existing maintenance walkways are very narrow and do not allow access to the entire bridge. Installation of the Safespan platform has also begun and should be completed this week.
